Candidate Filing For 2024 Elections Begins December 4
Candidate filing for the 2024 elections begins at noon on Monday, December 4, 2023, and ends at noon on Friday, December 15, 2023.
Depending on the office sought, candidates will file their Notice of Candidacy and pay their filing fee either at the Union County Board of Elections, 316-B East Windsor Street, Monroe, NC 28112 or with the State Board of Elections at the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. Filing fees must be paid by cashier check, campaign check, personal check, or money order.
The 2024 primary election is March 5. The general election is November 5.
Candidates for the following offices will file their Notice of Candidacy at the Union County Board of Elections, 316-B East Windsor St., Monroe, NC 28112:

The Martin Building and Union County Board of Elections will be open for filing during the following days and times:
- Noon - 5 PM, Monday, December 4
- 8 AM - 5 PM, December 5-8
- 8 AM - 5 PM, December 11-14
- 8 AM - Noon, Friday, December 15

Once filed, the deadline to withdraw a notice of candidacy is December 12, 2023. Throughout the filing period, candidate lists will be posted on unioncountyncelections.gov and the State Board website at Candidate Lists.
Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor is a non-partisan contest, so those candidates will file at the Union County Board of Elections office beginning at noon on June 10, 2024 and ending at noon on July 5, 2024.
