Many Union County voters will vote at new polling sites for the November 7 Municipal Elections.
The Board of Elections created two new precincts to alleviate overcrowding at existing precincts. The new precincts are 0044 Millbridge Clubhouse and 0045 New Town Elementary School.
Precinct 0044 was created by carving out the Millbridge neighborhood portion of Precinct 020A Waxhaw VFD, which had approximately 7,500 voters before the changes were made. After the change, Precinct 020A has approximately 4,000 voters. New Precinct 0044 has approximately 3,500 voters.
Precinct 0045 was created by realigning portions of Precinct 020B Waxhaw Bible Church and Precinct 019 Mineral Springs VFD. Before the changes, Precinct 020B had approximately 5,270 voters, and Precinct 019 had approximately 6,900 voters. After the changes were made, Precinct 0045 has approximately 3,100 voters, Precinct 019 has approximately 4,900 voters, and Precinct 020B has approximately 4,400 voters.
In another realignment, approximately 450 voters were also moved from Precinct 030 Cornerstone Community Church to Precinct 005 Monroe Fire Department Station 4.
These changes are permanent and will be in effect for all future elections.
