2025 Municipal Elections
Early Voting October 16, 2025 - November 1, 2025

Information to vote by mail

Any registered voter in Union County can request a mail-in ballot through the North Carolina Absentee Ballot Portal or by completing a State Absentee Ballot Request Form and mailing the form to the following address:

Union County Board of Elections
PO Box 1106
Monroe NC 28111

No special circumstance or reason is needed to vote a mail-in absentee ballot in North Carolina.

Military and overseas voters can learn more about their voting options through the Federal Voting Assistance Program.

For information about Accessible Absentee Voting, check the NCSBE website.

Information to vote early

You can vote at any early voting location and may update your name or address if needed. You may also register at early voting sites (no same-day registration in Second Primaries) but must attest to your eligibility and prove residence by showing one of the following:

  1. North Carolina driver's license.
  2. Other photo identification issued by a government agency.
  3. A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document showing the voter's name and address.
  4. A current college/university photo identification card along with proof of campus residence.

Within two business days of registration, the county board of elections will verify the driver's license or social security number, update the voter registration database, search for possible duplicate registrations, and verify the registrant's address by mail. The registrant's vote will be counted unless the county board of elections determines that he/she is not qualified to vote.

Information for voting on Election Day

Voting sites will be open from 6:30AM until 7:30PM. You can find your Election Day voting location by entering your address in the Polling Place Search tool.

You must go to your assigned voting location to vote on Election Day. If you vote in another location, you may be asked to vote a provisional ballot. Election Day is Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

You can also search your name using the Voter Lookup Tool to find your polling place and view your sample ballot and jurisdictions.
