Candidate Political Committee
Filing a notice of candidacy triggers the candidate's obligation to organize a political committee. Candidates that receive funds, make a payment, or give consent for anyone to receive funds or transfer anything of value for the purpose of bringing about the candidate's nomination or election for office is required to organize a political committee. Even if the candidate's only expense is the filing fee, a statement of organization will need to be filed.
All candidate committees must be organized within 10 days of filing for candidacy, receipt of a contribution, or first political expense. The following forms are required to form the committee:
- Statement Of Organization
- Certification Of Financial Account Information
- Candidate Designation Of Committee Funds
- Certification Of Under Threshold - ONLY for committees spending/receiving contributions under $1000

- DO NOT take cash over $50
- DO NOT take contributions from a business
- DO report In-Kind Contributions
- DO file finance reports electronically if your total contributions, loans or expenses total over $10,000
